The first step to creating such a spectacular is to, of course, have a thorough clean out of all unused or unwanted content in the shed. Transport all equipment, tools and other items into a separate storage space to allow room for your accessories and decorations.

Either buy or transform an old, unwanted chair into Santa’s seat, using red, white and green paint to create the perfect effect. It is important to buy paint emulsion that is suitable for wooden surfaces to obtain the desired look. Tinsel, fairy lights and other accessories can be used to decorate the interior of the shed, just like you would do in your home. However, this is the one excuse for you to go all out and compose an over the top Christmas theme.

Make the interior cosy by using a portable heater, but remember to be careful when using it near flammable decorations. If you’re feeling extra creative, it may be worth painting a fireplace onto the facing wall of the shed. Alternatively, themed decorative wall sheets can be purchased which can give off a real Christmassy feel and atmosphere without the hard work.

Lastly, make sure all gifts are wrapped and presented underneath the Christmas tree to finish off the amazing grotto in your back yard.

The children won’t be the only ones overjoyed by your efforts this Christmas. Passers-by will also stop in awe at your wonderful creation. It is also a great way to draw attention to your well-presented, polished looking home.

If you want to make sure that your lawn is free from diseases and looks beautiful all the time, you must trim the lawn weeds regularly.    Other than trimming your lawn, you need to identify if there are pests residing in your garden.  The best way of identifying their presence is by looking carefully in every spot and corner of your garden.  During the fall seasons, what you should be looking for are the grubs.  These grubs have the potential to ruin your garden up to the point that you need to remove the existing plants from the area and replace new ones into it.

Moths are also dangerous so take an effort to look for them during mowing your garden.  Billbugs can be harmful as well and they are mostly active during the night.  Getting rid of garden pests can be an almost impossible task but thankfully today you can hire a lawn care service provider.  They will take over the job of eliminating pests from your garden as well as maintaining your lawn so that no lawn weeds will ever grow again.

As soon as you notice the appearance of pests in your garden it is a must that you eliminate them as best as possible. Having creepy crawlers in the garden is not a great idea so you must catch them before they multiply in number and start a problem this time not only in the garden but inside your home as well.

Christmas is just around the corner. No, it is, I’m not just saying that. And children are already extremely excited and wish it were Christmas right now. So, why not indulge them a bit, and create their very own Santa’s Grotto in the garden. How?, I hear you say. Simple, just follow our simple guide on converting  garden sheds in your very own Santa’s Grotto .

Step 1: Preparation

First off, you’ll need to empty it. All the bits and pieces including lawn mowers, shovels and spades, plant pots etc. need to be temporarily moved. Garage, cellar, spare room or ask your neighbour if he could store them, all will suffice. Then the shed will need a good clean out.

Step 2: Decoration

Next, the illusion of Santa’s home needs creating, which, as we all know, is in the North Pole.  So, snow is required. You can paint the shed white and include a painting of a fireplace, buy some fake snow and roll it out on the ground or you can use white sheets. Place one large sheet on the ground of your garden shed with some spare pillows hiding under it to create a snowy landscape. Then paint some other sheets with Santa themes, such as a fireplace, reindeers forelocking in the snow and large candy canes. Once the sheets are dry, hang them on the wall.

Depending on the size of your shed, you could set up a Christmas tree inside with presents and all. The presents don’t have to be real. Just wrap some empty boxes in Christmas paper. Alternatively, you could set a tree up outside the shed. Now the basics are down, it’s time to get creative. Tinsel of all shapes, sizes and colours, boughs of holly, stockings, hanging decorations and Christmas lights, are required to deck those halls properly. You can go Christmas crazy, or keep it more classic and stylish. It’s entirely up to you.

Step 3: Some Essentials

Santa needs somewhere to sit. A comfortable spare chair will do the trick, but Santa and the children must also be kept warm. The most practical and least complicated way is using a small heater. Just be sure to abide by the safety rules and make sure all the cords and wires are out of reach of small hands and small feet. Big feet for that matter, too. The last thing you want is someone tripping. Some hot chocolate or hot apple cider, is another way of keeping Santa and the children warm whilst in the grotto.

Step 4: The Bounty

Yes, the kids will meet Santa and tell him all they want for Christmas, but they need more of an incentive. They need some immediate bounty. Prepare some goodie bags full of sweets and small gifts, for example a Christmas colouring book and crayons, crackers, yo-yos, and party bubbles. And whatever you do, don’t forget the Christmas cookies, which are simply cookies, but you have them at Christmas. Lots of them in various flavours, chocolate chip, and white chocolate chip, and cookies with coloured icing sugar on top, are important for Santa’s Grotto to be believable, as what is Santa without cookies?
